WMHL Board of Directors Meeting

The meeting was called to order by President Bob Pitel at 7:07 PM

Members Present:  Terri Lenselink (Sec.), Tom Steele (Vir.), Tim Klemm (Bar.), Mike Swanson (Win.), Marvin Lehmann (WS), Kelly Rickert (BRF), Kenneth Olson (Reeds.), Fritz Degner (Sparta), Brent Henry (Tom.), Ron Anderson (CRG), Dawn Bernamann (Selects), Mike Gargaro (Treas.), Dave Long (Stats.), Ron Bryant (La  X), Bob Pitel (Pres.), Dan Lenselink (VP)

Members Absent:  Tim Flood (Ona.),  Stuart McNames (Dells/Delton) Lori Whitis (Altoona, CVG)

I.                    Introductions:  were made by members present.

II.                 Secretary’s Minutes:  as e-mailed to members.  Motion to approve by Tomah, second by WS, approved.

III.               Treasurer’s Report:  CRG and Ona. still owe for scoresheets.  Motion by Tomah, to approve, second by WS, approved.

IV.              Committees:

A.    League Statistician:  no report, just make sure team names, dates and levels are on the socresheets or when you are contacting Dave with a question.

B.     League Selects:  Dawn handed out copies of the information that will be sent to League Reps this weekend.  Please make sure to get them to coaches ASAP.  Division II weekend is March 23-25 and Division I is March 30-April 1.  All forms and checks are due back to reps  February 9^th  There will be an excel spreadsheet for reps to fill out and e-mail back to Dawn.  Reps need to bring hard copies and checks to the League meeting Feb. 14^th.

C.      WAHA:  No report.

V.                     Old Business

A.    League Patches:  a miscommunication with the patch supplier so Bob  

did not have the patches tonight. He will have them next meeting.  They are 50 cents each.

VI.              New Business

A.    WS-Onalaska Squirt Game:  WS has filed a grievance regarding a Division              II Squirt game.  In the game there was an Onalaska player who received 3 penalties but was not removed from the game.  At the time of the third penalty WS was ahead 6-5.  That player went on to score the tying game and Onalaska then scored another goal to win 7-6.  After the game it was realized the ineligible player continued to play.  WS is requesting that Onalaska forfeit the game.  WS made a motion to have Onalaska forfeit the game, no second, motion dies.  Per WMHL rules, the issue will go to executive session.

B.     Blue Line Awards:  Bob had Blue Line patches available tonight.  They are 60 cents each.  The intention is to give awards to defensemen who usually don’t get much recognition.

C.    League Banquet:  scheduled for April 11^th.  Will be similar to last year, at The Greens, cocktails 5:30, dinner 6:30, meeting 7:30.  WMHL will pay for the dinners of league reps & guest, association presidents (new & current) & guest, recipients of President’s Award & guest.

D.    President’s Award:  intended for anyone who has done something exceptional for hockey in the region.  Maximum of 1 per association.  If you want to nominate someone e-mail to Bob who it is along with a Bio that he can use to share at the annual meeting.

E.     Final thoughts:  Plenty of patches for all associations, let Bob know the number you need.  Make sure all scorekeepers keep track of the number of penalties and know the WMHL rules.  All rosters are due tonight.  If you did not turn them in, e-mail or fax them Dave Long this week.  If he hasn’t heard from you by the end of the week, he will contact Bob who will then be in touch with you.

Motion by BRF to adjourn, second by WS, meeting adjourned 7:55 PM, will move to executive session.

WMHL Executive Session

Meeting called to order by President Bob Pitel 8:00 PM

Executive committee as appointed by the President to make a quoram:

                        Kelly Rickert (BRF), Mike Swanson (Win.), Dave Long (Stats.), Bob Pitel (Pres.), Timm Klemm (Bar.), Dawn Bernamann (Selects), Brent Henry (Tom.)

West Salem is disputing a Division II Squirt game against Onalaska.  An Onalaska player received 3 penalities but was allowed to stay in the game.  At the time of the penalty WS was ahead 6-5.  The ineligibile player went on to score a goal and then Onalaska scored another goal to win the game 7-6.  The error was discovered after the game.  It was immediately brought to the attention of the WS League Rep. along with a WMHL Board member from Onalaska.  The WMHL President was then notified by e-mail of the dispute.

By decision of the Executive Committee Onalaska forfeits the game to West Salem due to the rule violation of playing an ineligibile player.  Motion by Tomah that Onalaska must forfeit the game, second by BRF, motion passes by a 6-1 vote.
