2.      Option 2:  Divide Squirts into Gold-Silver-Bronze divisions, instead of Division I & II.

3.      WS moved to use Division I & II for all levels, and have 9-10 Squirt I teams, each playing each other twice; and 12-13 Squirt II teams, broken into two brackets, playing each team in their bracket twice, and the teams in the other bracket once.  Second by Tomah, approved on a voice vote.

A.      Squirt II Brackets divided as follows:

East-Baraboo, BRF, Onalaska, Sparta, Tomah, Viroqua

West-BRF, LaCrescent, LaCrosse, Onalaska, WS, Winona,      ?Sparta (if both teams end up being Squirt II)

C.      Scheduling Meeting will be Wednesday, October 10 at 6pm at the rink in Sparta.  Danielle will take care of ordering pizza, and getting soda on hand.  Pizza will be set out and ready right at 6pm.

D.    Rebates:  Onalaska turned in a rebate claim.  They ran a newspaper ad for a week-long intro to hockey, provided equipment for all players, each player got a stick and a jersey, and a puck with their name on it.  Also printed posters/flyers.  WS moved to approve rebate payment in the amount of  $475 for Onalaska.  Second by Tomah, approved on a voice vote.  Just a reminder the rebate claim forms are due by November 30, 2007.

VI.              New Business

A.    Boundary issue:  There is a child playing in Onalaska, who lives in the      West Salem boundary area (Mindoro area).  WS had released the player for one year.  The player wants to stay in Onalaska, and WS has chosen not to re-release the player.  WAHA Rules state that if a player is able to make the 1st team in an Association in a higher Division than their home Association, they are automatically released to the higher Division Association.  WMHL’s current policy is to follow WAHA guidelines, and it was determined that this is not an issue for WMHL to act on.

B.      Clinics

1.      Viroqua is hosting a 1-day Bill Howard Goalie Clinic on October 28th.  It will include classroom instruction, video, and on-ice.  Flyers were distributed.

2.      WAHA Goalie Clinic-at Sparta on October 6 from 4-8pm.  Free for all, register on the WAHA website.

C.    Announcements:  Mike brought to our attention that a Connecticut association was fined by the IRS for claiming that coaches were independent contractors on their tax returns.  This is something to be aware of if you pay your coaches over $500.

D.    Scoresheets:  Mike brought up a previous discussion regarding what rules or information we wanted printed on the backs of our scoresheets.  Bob will send the rules out, so that we can decide what we want printed on the backs of scoresheets.

E.     Upcoming Meetings:  Scheduling-October 10 at the rink in Sparta, 6pm.  Next regular WMHL meeting, November 14, 7pm at the Greens.

Mike Gargaro moved to adjourn, second by Tomah.  Meeting adjourned at 8:59pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Danielle Nauman

Secretary
