Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order by President Del Scanlon at 7:05PM.
I. Introductions
II. Secretary’s minutes: Motion to accept by Tomah, second by West Salem. Approved by voice vote.
III. Treasurer’s Report: Mike presented the financials, BRF paid their outstanding balance. Motion to accept by BRF, second by CRG. Question was brought regarding the budget. It was determined that the $4000 from the recruitment rebates last fall needed to be taken out of the budget, leaving us with only about a $900 shortfall for the year. Motion to accept was approved on a voice vote.
IV. Committees
A. League Statistician: Mike confirmed that Jeanette Hawkinson from Onalaska will indeed be the statistician. We’ll need to get her set up with the password and information.
B. Selects: We will need to wait for final team numbers to determine the feasibility and plans for Selects.
C. WAHA Report-Fran was not available, but Oak reported on the Region 6 WAHA Meeting in Osseo. It was decided that for this year yet, associations can still use copies of birth certificates for the entire year, including State Tournaments. Also a reminder of the Goalie Clinics being held October 25 in Onalaska and October 26 in Reedsburg.

Baraboo-guessing 1 Mite, 2 Squirts, 1 PeeWee, 1 Bantam
B. Mite II’s-Discussion was held regarding shortening the Mite II season, and having them wait to start league games until after January 1. This would limit them to playing each league team once. Motion by WS to have a shortened season, playing each team once, with the first game played after January 1 being designated as the league game. Second by CRG. Motion carried on a voice vote.

1. Mite I, 9 teams, two divisions
East Division (plays 11 league games, play each East team twice, each West team once)

2. Mite II, 7 teams, 1 division, no league games to be scheduled prior to January 1. First game played after January 1 will be the league game. Will play each team once. (Can play additional pick-up games at any time).

B. Scheduling Meeting will be held Monday, October 27th at 6pm. Danielle will check with American Legion to determine availability and if we can bring in pizza. Alternate plan will be at the Sparta Rink.
C. League Fees will remain at $45 per team, or a minimum of $150 if an association doesn’t register all their teams with the league.
D. Viroqua has released 2 PeeWee players, WS turned them down, and they are now going before the board in Onalaska.
E. A player living in the Sparta School District has registered with Tomah. It is believed to have been a misunderstanding on the parent’s part, and is being dealt with.
F. The next regular WMHL Meeting will be November 12 at 7pm at the Sparta American Legion.
LaCrosse moved to adjourn, second by BRF. Meeting adjourned.
