Board Meeting Minutes

American Legion, Sparta

Members Present:  Bob Pitel (LaCrescent); Marvin Lehmann (West Salem); Tom Steele (Viroqua); Margaret Ebner (LaCrosse); Tim Darling (CRG); Mike Swanson (Winona); Ken Olson (Reedsburg); Mike Gargaro (Treasurer); Timm Klemm (Baraboo); Dawn Bernamann (Selects); Danielle Nauman (Secretary); Oak Moser (Tomah); Fritz Degner (Sparta); Amy Voigt (Dells-Delton)

Meeting called to order by President Bob Pitel at 7:10PM.

I.                    Introductions

II.                 Secretary’s minutes:  Motion to approve as presented by Reedsburg, second by West Salem.  Approved by voice vote.

III.               Treasurer’s Report:  Presented by Mike Gargaro.  Motion to approve by Baraboo, second by Sparta.  Approved by voice vote.

IV.              Committees

A.    League Statistician:  Review of information Del emailed out.  It was questioned if the address to which teams are emailing scoresheets is correct.  Everyone was reminded to be sure to verify all games prior to the game to ensure all schedules are correct.

B.     Selects:  Dawn didn’t receive any responses regarding numbers of teams that each association has willing to present.  A brief poll was taken at the meeting, and Dawn will follow up with others.  As of right now, it looks likely we will go with 1 weekend, with PeeWees and Squirts.

C.    WAHA Report:  No report from Fran Finco, we will make sure he is included in email list to get minutes.

V.                 Old Business

A.    Promotion Rebates

1.      Baraboo:  holding a 12 week Learn To Skate program, 35 kids, on the ice for one hour per week with 7-8 coaches.  They are hoping for 60 kids.  Purchased new equipment to outfit skaters, jerseys.  No invoices were available last month, so their request for $420 was tabled.  Invoices were presented.  West Salem moved to approve request for $420, second by Viroqua.

2.      Sparta:  Held Skate With Santa/Day at the rink activity.  Over 100 kids participated, with 10 positive contacts made.  Addresses were collected, and mailings will be sent out.  Kids in attendance received free hot dogs and slushies.  Also included were postage bills for mailings to past Learn To Skate participants.  Motion to approve request for $146 by Reedsburg, second by Baraboo.

3.      LaCrosse:  Held Learn To Skate, printed flyers, purchased jerseys for all kids to keep, printed stickers with their logo.  Motion to approve request for $385 by Viroqua, second by Baraboo.

B.     Coaches Lists:  the following need to update all or part of coaches information for the website:  Sparta, Tomah, Viroqua.

C.    League Dues/Scoresheet money:  at this time the following associations owe:

1.      Baraboo-$20

2.      BRF-$200

3.      Dells-$155

4.      LaCrescent-$150

5.      Sparta-$220

6.      Viroqua-$335

7.      Winona-$20

D.    Scoresheets:  additional sheets purchased by associations were passed out, sheets that will be provided free of charge to associations for league games will be counted out and distributed later.  Mike will order more scoresheets that will be available for purchase, also.

VI.              New Business

A.    Rosters will be due at the next meeting.  League patches will be ordered after that, based on the rosters.  Patches will be free of charge.

B.     Next month’s meeting:  Bob will be out of town the 2^nd Wednesday of January.  It was decided to keep the meeting that week.  Meeting will be held January 9^th at 7pm.  It was also noted that the Greens will be changing management as of December 31.  It was decided to have Danielle look into continuing to have meetings at the Sparta American Legion.

Motion to adjourn was made at 7:48 by Mike Gargaro, second by LaCrosse.  Meeting adjourned.
